Does your cat or dog have horrible breath? Don’t ignore that odor! It could signify a serious health risk, with potential damage to not only your pet’s teeth and gums, but internal organs as well.
Dr. Eduard Meyer reminds you that February is Pet Dental Health Month and encourages you to brush your pet’s teeth regularly, have routine check ups and teeth cleaning if necessary.
Dr. Meyer says, “Periodontal disease is the most commonly diagnosed problem in dogs and cats. It can lead to painful infections of the mouth, and in severe cases these infections can spread and become life threatening conditions such as diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, and kidney disease. And as a matter of fact, 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats have some form of periodontal disease by age 2.”
Please exercise good dental hygiene for you pets and bring them in to Berryhill Animal Hospital soon for a Dental Health check and cleaning. Remember, February is Pet Dental Health Month!
